Joe Dioguardi had a knack for scoring. The four-year starter played from 1986-89 under legendary coach Doug May. During his career, the accounting major appeared in 73 contests, tallying 40 goals and 13 assists for 93 points, ranking him third on the all-time scoring list, and second in career goals. Dioguardi was named All-New York State in 1987 and 1989 and was also a three-time All-Empire Athletic Association selection. In 1989, Dioguardi recorded six game-winning goals and tallied a career-high 39 points. In Dioguardi's four seasons, the Tigers were a remarkable 61-8-4. RIT competed in four NCAA Division III tournaments and reached the national championship game in 1988. In 1989, RIT advanced to the national semifinals, and quarterfinals in 1987.
