Ted Diehl, a native of Jamesville, N.Y., was one of the finest men’s lacrosse players in RIT history. During his four-year playing career from 1984-87, the Tigers won three EAA championships and made the NCAA Tournament four times. Diehl helped lead the Tigers to a 50-10 record and three NCAA Tournament semifinal games. During his senior season, Diehl was a Third-Team All-American and first team GTE Academic All-American. Diehl compiled a 3.98 grade point average in mechanical engineering and was named to the Dean’s List in every quarter. He was awarded the Ellingson Award in 1987 for his prowess in the classroom and on the lacrosse field. Diehl was RIT’s first NCAA post-graduate scholarship recipient. He was named to the PHI Beta Kappa honor society. During his career at RIT, Diehl recorded 124 ground balls and 109 points. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1987 and earned a master’s degree in 1989.
