Sidelined his entire second year, Frank Hinchey bounced back to make a major impact on the RIT men’s soccer program. He went on to earn All-American, state and conference honors, and capped off his career as RIT Senior Male Athlete of the Year. He also participated in the prestigious Intercollegiate Soccer Association of America Senior Bowl game and was one of 50 seniors selected to play in the Budweiser Indoor Soccer Classic. A native of Gates, N.Y. Hinchey was part of an RIT soccer dynasty. During his career, the Tigers participated in four NCAA championships, reaching the semifinals in 1984 when they finished with and impressive 19-1-1 mark. RIT posted a four-year record of 58-5-9. Considered one of the top midfielders in Division III, Hinchey tallied 59 career points, ranking him among RIT’s top 10 all-time scorers. A two-time team captain and MVP in 1985, Hinchey put together back-to-back 20-point seasons in 1985 and 1986. As a senior, Hinchey was named All-American as the Tigers posted a 13-1-2 mark. Only once during his career did the Tigers lose two contests in a season (14-2-3 in 1982). Twice he was named All New York State and three times he garnered All- Empire Athletic Association (formerly Independent College Athletic Conference) honors.
