Few have equaled the wrestling achievements of Darrell Leslie. The Rochester native was a four-time All-American and RIT’s first wrestling national champion. Grappling at 142 pounds, his accomplishments are unparalleled. Leslie won one New York State title, four ICAC championships and three RIT Invitational championships. In 1982-83, Leslie was named RIT Invitational Outstanding Wrestler. In NCAA competition, Leslie was fourth as a freshman, fifth as a sophomore, third in his junior year and champion as a senior. In his four campaigns, Leslie compiled a 44-1 dual match record. His overall mark, including tournaments, was 108-15. On his way to the 1983 NCAA title, Leslie was 12-0 in dual meets and 37-4 overall. The 1983 Senior Male Athlete of the Year, Leslie still holds several school records.
