George Whitney captained the 1930 wrestling team and led the squad in scoring. During his junior and senior seasons, Whitney helped guide the team to 18 wins, one loss and one tie. He was a member of the Varsity Club and lost only two matches in his Tiger grappling career. In his first match as a freshman, Whitney pinned a tough Syracuse University opponent in one minute.
