Men's Cross Country finishes fifth at Canisius Alumni Classic

BUFFALO, N.Y. – RIT senior Hassan Eissa finished 16th out of 175 runners to lead the men's cross country team to fifth place out of 13 teams at the Canisius Alumni Classic in Buffalo, Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Eissa finished the eight-kilometer course in 25:32.9, while graduate student Aleksei Bingham finished 19th with a time of 25:45.1.
  • Senior Ben Beaudry finished 25th (25:58.2), while sophomore Matt Chaikowsky crossed 29th (26:06.0) and first-year Derick Koen finished 51st (27:02.4) to complete the Tigers' top-five.
  • Sophomore Ryan Wisniewski (27:07.9) and junior Daniel De Zutter (27:21.7) rounded out the team's top-seven in 53rd and 60th, respectively.
  • The University at Buffalo won the team competition with 27 points, followed by the non-college Checkers AC (73), Duquesne (87), host Canisius (98) and the Tigers (121). RIT was the top-finishing Division III team in the field.
