ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT men's cross country team earned a fifth-place finish out of 27 teams at the 2025 NCAA Division III Niagara Region Cross Country Championships at Genesee Valley Park, Saturday. The Tigers totaled 144 points and were led by senior
Derick Koen's top-10 performance.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Koen led RIT with a 7th-place finish, crossing the line in 25:11.6 with junior Jackson Burger placed 20th with a clocking of 25:48.4.
- Other finishers for the Tigers were junior Sebastian Montalvo, placing 25th in 26:00.0 and sophomore Brandon Blandino, coming in 44th at 26:38.3.
- Sophomore Spencer Buff rounded out the scoring five in 48th place, clocking 26:40.9.
- First-year Calvin Barrett (53rd, 26:47.6) and first-year Luca Strangis (56th, 26:48.7) also competed for the Tigers.
- The top three teams were SUNY Geneseo (29 points), NYU (47 points), and Rochester (110 points).

RIT will await potential selections for the NCAA Division III National Championships, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22.
