ROCHESTER, NY -- RIT senior guard
Anthony Terry (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney)'s jumper with 4.2 seconds remaining in regulation erased a 14-point, second-half deifict, and lifted the RIT men's basketball team (9-10, 6-4 Empire 8) to an 82-81 win over Empire 8 rival Nazareth College (11-8, 4-6 Empire 8) on Tuesday night.
Nazareth's Phil Scaffidi made a pair of free throws with 10:02 left in regulation give the Flyers their largest lead of the contest at 64-50.
RIT responded with an 8-0 run and cut the lead to six points on a layup by senior
Darryl Anderson (San Diego, CA/Southwest) with 7:57 to play, making it 64-58.
A quick 4-0 burst by Nazareth built the lead back to 10 points with 7:05 to play on a layup by Brad Ford.

Justin Heisig (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) with 5:54 to play made it a four point lead with just under five minutes remaining. It wad the closest RIT had been since early in the second half.
Freshman
Casey Bobelis (Brandenton, FL/Braden River) recorded a lay-up with 3:32 to play made it a two point game, at 72-70. The freshman forward finished with a career-high 16 points off the bench on 7-of-10 shooting from the field.
The key play came with 2:26 remaining, with Nazareth up 74-70. Heisig was fouled by Ford as he attempted a 3-pointer. He stepped to the line and drained all three free throws, cutting the Golden Flyers lead to one point at 74-73.
Tyshun Stephens drained a three and a layup on consecutive possessions for Nazareth to push the Golden Flyers lead back to four points with 1:12 to play.
Nate Korinchak (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) made a layup and converted the free throw on the old fashioned three point play with :45 seconds remainig to cut a four point lead to one.
On Nazareth's next possession, Scaffidi found himself in the air in the lane and threw the ball out of bounds giving RIT a chance with 19 seconds remaining.
Terry got the ball at the top of the key, drove to his right, got a step on his defender and drove the lane floating a jumper from 10 feet out the hit nothing but net with 4.2 seconds left to give the Tigers the lead.
Stephens had an off-balance three pointer rim out as time expired to secure the win for the Tigers and keep their Empire 8 Tournament hopes alive.
RIT shot 52.5 percent from the floor, including 58.1 percent in the second half. Heisig led RIT with 23 points and seven rebounds.
Terry finished with 18 points, while Bobelis chipped in with 16 points and four rebounds. Korinchak scored all nine of his points in the second half. #R.J. Kalb# added eight points and had four rebounds.
Scaffidi led Nazareth with 18 points. Dan Waldbillig added 11 points and had 10 rebounds for Nazareth.
With the win, RIT has a 6-4 mark in Empire 8 play, a half-game out of the fourth and final playoff spot.
RIT returns to action next Tuesday when they host Empire 8 rival St. John Fisher College at 8 p.m. That game will be televised on Time Warner Cable Sports - 26, or 1026 for high definition subscribers.
