PITTSFORD, NY -- The RIT (1-2) men's basketball team defeated St. John Fisher College 70-56 on Saturday afternoon, taking seventh place at the 45th Annual Wendy's College Classic.
RIT led 14-4 in the early going, before the Cardinals went on a 13-3 run, tying the score at 17-17.
The Tigers responded with a 7-0 run of their own, and increased their lead to 36-24 on a layup off a steal by
Anthony Terry (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney).
Justin Heisig (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) stole the ball at mid-court and started the fast break, dishing the ball off to Terry who was trailing the play.
RIT opened the second half up with a 7-0 run, opening their lead up to as many as 20 points in the second half.
Freshman
Casey Bobelis (Brandenton, FL/Braden River) sparked the Tigers, scoring 11 of his career-high 12 points in the second half.
Nate Korinchak (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) scored six second-half points for the Tigers who win their first game of the season.
Terry paced the Tigers with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor. Heisig had the double-double scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds for the Tigers who shot 40.4% from the floor.
RIT returns to action on Tuesday, December 7 when they host SUNY Oswego at 7 pm at Clark Gymnasium.
