ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's basketball team fell to Montclair State 66-63 in the finals of the 25th Annual Harold J. Brodie Tournament on Saturday.

Montclair's Andrew August was named tournament MVP, and Anthony Terry (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney) and Justin Heisig (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) of RIT were All-Tournament Team selections.

RIT led by seven points midway through the first half, but Montclair State closed out the half on a 17-6 run to take a 35-33 lead into halftime.

RIT shot 43.3% from the floor in the first half led by Terry who scored 12 points. Heisig added seven points , while Darryl Anderson (San Diego, CA/Southwest) added five points, two rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Andrew August paced the Redhawks with 16 first-half points and grabbed four rebounds.

The Redhawks extended their lead to six points early in the second half on a layup by Sean Young.

WIth 10:14 remaining in the second half, August's layup gave the Redhawks a 56-51 lead.

RIT ran off four straight points, tying the game at 56-56 on a made free throw by Nate Korinchak (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) with 7:45 to play. Korinchak had a solid second half, finishing with five points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals.

Montclair State outscored RIT 6-2 over a 4:05 span to take a six-point lead on a layup by Tyrone Prewitt.

Terry's layup with 2:46 to play made it a four point lead. He finished with a game-high 23 points, including 11 in the second half.

After a pair of August free throws bumped the lead back to six points, Brendan Harder (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta)'s layup with 1:05 to play cut the lead back to four. He completed the traditional three-point play with a free throw to make it 66-63 Montclair State.

Montclair's A.J. Larkin missed the front end of a one-and-one, giving RIT a chance to tie with seven seconds remaining.

Harder's three-pointer from the top of the circle was blocked by Charles Miller. Heisig got the rebound, but his shot fell short giving the Redhawks the win.

Harder and Heisig each scored nine points for the Tigers who fall to 3-5 on the season. Heisig grabbed seven rebounds and Terry had six rebounds.

August was one of three Redhawks in double figures with20 points. Rodney Freeney scored 14 points and A.J. Larkin added 10 points for Montclair State who improve to 10-1 on the season.

RIT is off until December 31 when they host D'Youville College. Tip-off at Clark Gymnasium is at 3 pm.
