Men's basketball to play pair of games at 2018 Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout

ROCHESTER, NY – St. John Fisher's Manning Napier Varsity Gym is the site for the Third Annual Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout taking place on Dec. 6 and 8. RIT will play Nazareth College at 6 p.m. followed by St. John Fisher versus the University of Rochester at 8 p.m. on Thursday. In addition to the four contests, St. John Fisher will be hosting a toy drive to benefit children through Mary's Place. Saturday, Nazareth and Rochester will play at 6 p.m., followed by RIT vs. St. John Fisher at 8 p.m.

RIT enters Thursday 2-4 overall. The Tigers dropped a pair of Liberty League home contests to Bard and Union last weekend, falling 83-58 to the Raptors Friday, and 74-68 to the Dutchmen Saturday. The Tigers enter Thursday averaging 62.8 points per game, while allowing 71.0 points per contest. Will Atkinson (Orchard Park, NY/Canisius) led the Tigers with 19 points Saturday, while Chuck Okehie (Owings Mills, MD/McDonogh) scored a career-high 14 points. Atkinson leads RIT in scoring, averaging 13.0 points per game, and assists, handing out 3.2 per contest. Okehie is second in scoring (8.3 PPG) and leads the Tigers in rebounding, averaging 7.2 caroms per game.
 
Nazareth comes into Thursday's game 3-1 on the season. Last time out, the Golden Flyers lost at SUNY Oswego 70-55. Jake Burgio led the Golden Flyers with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Tyler Stenglein tallied 17 points. Nazareth enters the weekend averaging 80.8 points per game, while allowing 78.5 points per contest. Burgio leads Nazareth in scoring, averaging 22.5 points per game, and rebounds, grabbing 11.5 per contest. Stenglein is second in scoring, averaging 19.0 points per contest.

St. John Fisher comes into Thursday 3-1 on the season. The Cardinals defeated Hobart College 91-81 Tuesday. Matt Asenjo led the Cardinals with 23 points. James Leone tallied 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Ryan Henderson tallied 13 points and had eight caroms. St. John Fisher comes into the weekend averaging 81.3 points per game, while allowing 77.5 points a game. Sammy Robinson leads Fisher in scoring, averaging 19.8 points per game. Henderson is second in scoring, averaging 18.8 points and leads the team in rebounding, averaging 7.5 caroms per game.

Rochester enters Thursday's contest 7-0 on the season ranked 17th in this week's d3hoops.com poll. The Yellowjackets defeated SUNY Geneseo 91-67 last time out. Jacob Wittig led five Yellowjackets to score in double figures with 15 points and seven assists. Ryan Clamage and Brendan O'Shea each had 13 points. Rochester comes into the shootout averaging 73.6 points per game, while allowing 58.6 points per contest. Clamage leads the Yellowjackets in scoring, averaging 13.0 points per game, and leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 6.3 boards per game. Wittig is second in scoring, averaging 12.1 points, and leads the team with 3.7 assists per game.
 
Attendees who bring an unwrapped toy will enjoy free admission to the games. Suggested toys for younger children include board games, Legos, sports equipment (soccer balls, basketballs, and footballs), stuffed animals, and dolls. For older children, bath and body products, stuffed animals and headphones, while hats, gloves, scarves and socks are also welcome. All toys collected will be distributed to children from the Rochester refugee community through Mary's Place.

Tickets are $1 for students and $5 for adults. Head out to St. John Fisher for an unforgettable weekend of basketball.
