ROCHESTER, NY – RIT's Clark Gymnasium is the site for the Second Annual Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout taking place December 7 and 9. St. John Fisher will play Rochester at 6 p.m. followed by RIT versus Nazareth at 8 p.m. on Thursday. In addition to the four contests, RIT will be hosting a toy drive to benefit children through Mary's Place. Saturday, Nazareth and Rochester will play at 6 p.m., followed by RIT vs. Nazareth at 8 p.m.
RIT enters Thursday 4-2 overall and are 2-0 in the Liberty League after a pair of road wins last weekend at Bard and Union. Friday, the Tigers beat Bard 74-63 behind 14 points apiece from
Troy Pierre-Louis (Providence, RI/Berkshire School) and
Robert Aguilera (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas). Pierre-Louis drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer at Union Saturday to give the Tigers a 65-62 win. RIT enters Thursday averaging 70.5 points per game, while allowing 70.3 points per game.
Nazareth comes into Thursday's game 3-1 on the season. Last time out, the Golden Flyers beat SUNY Oswego 79-69. Cody Green led four players in double figures with 16 points. Jake Burigo and Tyler Stenglein each had a double-double, tallying 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds apiece. The Golden Flyers enter the weekend averaging 84.5 points per game, while allowing 82.0 points per contest. Stenglein leads Nazareth in scoring, averaging 22.0 points per game, and assists, handing out 7.0 per game. Burigo leads the team in rebounding averaging 9.8 caroms per contests.
St. John Fisher comes into Thursday 2-3 on the season. The Cardinals were beaten 70-69 at SUNY Cortland. Ryan Henderson led St. John Fisher with 24 points, while Tyler English tallied 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds. St. John Fisher comes into the weekend averaging 82.8 points per game, while allowing 77.2 points per game. Henderson and Sammy Robinson lead Fisher in scoring, averaging 16.4 points apiece. English leads the team in rebounding (6.8 rebounds per game) and assists (3.4 assists per game).
Rochester enters Thursday's contest 5-1 on the season and ranked 17th in this week's d3hoops.com poll. The Yellowjackets beat Stockton 64-56 last time out at the Louis Alexander Palestra. Ryan Clamage led Rochester with 20 points, while Jason Urban tallied 13 points off the bench. Rochester comes into the shootout averaging 71.8 points per game, while allowing 61.0 points per contest. Clamage leads the Yellowjackets in scoring, averaging 18.5 points per game, and rebounding, grabbing 5.3 boards per game. Jason Wittig leads team in assists, dishing out 5.2 per contest.
Attendees who bring an unwrapped toy will enjoy free admission to the games. Suggested toys for younger children include board games, Legos, sports equipment (soccer balls, basketballs, and footballs), stuffed animals, and dolls. For older children, iTunes gift cards, bath and body products, sports equipment, hair accessories, socks, and blankets are also welcome. All toys collected will be distributed to children from the Rochester refugee community through Mary's Place.
Tickets are $1 for students and $5 for adults.
