ROCHESTER, NY — The RIT men's swimming and diving (5-2) team enjoyed a 169-131 victory over visiting Hamilton College (1-2) on Senior day at the Judson Pool Saturday afternoon. The Tigers honored seniors
Austin Hayes (Aurora, OH/Aurora),
John O'Gorman (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth), and
Steven Paine (York, PA/Dallastown Area) before the meet.
RIT won both relay events, and had eight first place finishes individually. The relay teams had two third places as well, and the Tigers had a total 22 individual top-three finishers.
The team of
Derek Rothrock (Ashburn, VA/Briar Woods),
Shawn Nevers (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial), O'Gorman, and Paine won the 200-yard relay with a finals time of 1:39.92, while Nick Genovese,
Dennis Zhou (Antwerp, NY/Indian River),
Daniel Yuen-Schat (Honolulu, HI/Kaiser), and
Jason Cook (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) took third with a finals time of 1:41.81. In the 400-yard freestyle relay,
Austin Hayes (Aurora, OH/Aurora), Cook, Rothrock, and Paine took first with a time of 3:17.66.
Tyler Allen (Newark, NY/Newark),
Mark Truskinovsky (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville North),
Adam Reitz (Hilton, NY/Hilton), and Jimmy Antonelli placed third with 3:24.95.
Joe Wang (Framingham, MA/Framingham) was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle, with 10:25.89 in the finals. In the 200-yard freestyle, Hayes took first place with a time of 1:48.49.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Rothrock (55.44) and Nick Genovese (55.87) took first and second place, while
John Stelmack (Toccoa, GA/Stephens County) (1:02.40) and Nevers (1:02.54) took first and second in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Wil Seifried (Springfield, PA/Springfield) (2:05.38) and Wang (2:10.27) were two-three in the 200-yard butterfly. In the 50-yard freestyle, RIT took top three: Cook (22.71), Paine (22.87), and O'Gorman (22.97).
In the 100-yard freestyle, Paine took home first place with a time of 49.48, and in the 200-yard backstroke, O'Gorman was second with a time of 2:03.08.
John Stelmack (Toccoa, GA/Stephens County) was first in the 200-yard breaststroke, as he swam a 2:18.73.
Dennis Zhou (Antwerp, NY/Indian River) was second, swimming a 2:20.56. In the 500-yard freestyle, Hayes found himself in third, swimming a 5:07.61. In the 100-yard butterfly, Seifried was second, and in the 200-yard individual medley, Wang was second with a time of 2:07.45.
In diving, RIT took first place in both the 1- and 3-meter dives.
Alex Dieroff (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) took first in the 3-meter, with a final score of 254.90, while
Ben Hamilton (Addison, NY/Addison) won the 1-meter, with a final score of 235.75. Hamilton also placed third in the 3-meter.
The Tigers will return to action at the University of Rochester on Jan. 21. Action will begin at 1 p.m.
