ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Five RIT student athletes were honored by the Liberty League with weekly honors announced by the conference, Monday (March 2).
Junior
Gwen Petrie was named the Women's Diver of the Week. On the men's side, junior
Luke Albanese was named the Diver of the Week, sophomore
Yu Tanimoto was Men's Tennis Singles Performer of the Week and first year
Evan Ly was the Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week. Tanimoto and sophomore
Alexander Sinclair were the Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week.
Petrie won the 1-meter event at the NCAA Division III Diving Regionals over the weekend with a score of 450.55, earning a trip to the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. The junior also took fifth place in the 3-meter height with a score of 436.70.
Albanese finished third in Friday's 3-meter competition with a score of 502.5. The junior diver finished third in Saturday's 1-meter competition with a score of 499.6.
Tanimoto beat Jake David 6-1, 6-1 at first singles to lead the Tigers to a 6-1 win at St. Lawrence, Saturday.
Ly recorded a 2-0 record to help lead RIT to a 6-1 win at St. Lawrence, Saturday. Ly teamed up with junior
Alec Turcotte to beat Armaan Walia and Charles Schepens 6-2 at second doubles. In singles, Ly beat Josh David 6-2, 6-3 at second doubles.
Tanimoto and Sinclair defeated Josh and Jake David 6-3 in first doubles to lead the Tigers to a 6-1 win at St. Lawrence, Saturday.
