ROCHESTER, NY -- It was a busy week in RIT Athletics with plenty of highlights. Here is a brief look back at the highlights from the past week and a look ahead at upcoming events.

Women's Soccer: (4-1-1, 0-0-0 Liberty League)
Last Week: RIT went 2-0-0, posting a pair of non-conference wins. Wednesday, RIT beat St. John Fisher College, 2-0. Anka Parzych (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) and Emily Thiel (Seattle, WA/Roosevelt) each scored versus the Cardinals. On Saturday, RIT went on the road to beat SUNY Fredonia, 1-0. First year forward Sami Alur (Fremont, CA/Irvington), this week's Liberty League Rookie of the Week, scored in the 35th minute on an assist from Thiel. That goal held up as RIT's defense posted its third clean sheet of the season. Sophomore defender, Lauren Chester (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia), this week's Liberty League Defender of the Week, led a stout defense that held Fredonia to just two shots on target.

This Week: The Tigers play two games, hosting Nazareth College on Wednesday at 4 p.m. RIT opens Liberty League play this week when they host Clarkson University at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Men's Soccer: (2-3-1, 0-0-0 Liberty League)
Last Week: RIT posted an 0-1-1 record. Wednesday, the Tigers tied Elmira 0-0. Peter Cinibulk (Bellbrook, OH/Bellbrook) made six saves in net for RIT. Saturday, RIT fell to the University of Rochester 1-0 in the fifth annual Hillside Community Shield. Cinibulk made seven saves. The RIT keeper posted a 0.44 goals against average and a .928 save percentage, earning Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week honors.

This Week: Tuesday, the Tigers face cross-town rival Nazareth College at 4 p.m. Last year, RIT came back to beat the Golden Flyers 3-2 at Nazareth. The Tigers begin Liberty League play on Saturday at Clarkson.

Women's Cross Country:
Last Week: The Tigers placed seventh out of 29 teams at the Yellowjacket Invitational hosted by the University of Rochester held at nearby Genesee Valley Park on Saturday. RIT was sixth among the Division III contingent with 219 team points as Division I Cornell was victorious over Ithaca with 23 points.

Senior Emma Jones (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) was RIT's top finisher, placing 12th overall out of 352 runners and fourth among all Division III finishers with a time of 22:19.6. Junior Keira Higgins (Schenevus, NY/Milford) and sophomore Becca Schwan (LeRoy, NY/LeRoy) led RIT's next wave of runners, finishing 49th and 50th overall with times of 23:56.6 and 23:58.7, respectively.
 
This Week: RIT is off this week, but return to action on October 1.

Men's Cross Country:
Last Week: The Tigers recorded an impressive fifth place finish out of 29 teams at the Yellowjacket Invitational hosted by the University of Rochester and held at nearby Genesee Valley Park on Saturday. RIT finished with 193 team points, while nationally-ranked Mt. Union College won the meet with 62 points.

Junior James Bailey (Danvers, MA/Danvers) was RIT's top finisher, placing fourth overall out of 317 runners with a time of 25:46.5, just three seconds from second and eight behind the winner. Senior Jon Pelzar (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) placed 12th overall, finishing the race in a time of 26:40.6.
 
This Week: RIT is off this week, and return to action on October 1.

Women's Volleyball: (9-4, 3-1 Liberty League)
Last Week: RIT went 3-1 in the opening Liberty League Crossover of the season at Clark Gym. The Tigers posted wins over St. Lawrence, Bard and Vassar, while falling to defending Liberty League Champion Clarkson.

Senior Sarah Szybist (Colorado Springs, CO/Ramstein) slammed 85 kills (6.1/set) and hit .301 to go along with 41 digs (2.9/set), seven aces, and seven blocks, earning Liberty League Player of the Week honors for the third straight week. On Friday, she surpassed 2,000 career kills in a 20-kill, 10 dig performance, as RIT rolled to a three-set win over St. Lawrence. Later on Friday, she had 25 kills and 13 digs in a five-set loss to Clarkson. Saturday, she hit .600 with 10 kills in a win over Bard, then added 30 kills and 16 digs in a four-set win over Vassar.

Szybist continues to lead all of the Division III with 5.58 kills and 6.51 points per set in 13 matches this season.

This Week: The Tigers return to action with four more Liberty League contests. The Tigers take on Vassar and Skidmore at Bard on Friday evening, and compete against Bard and Union from Vassar on Saturday.

Women's Tennis:
Last Week: RIT went 3-0 last week, posting wins over The College at Brockport, Bard and Elmira Colleges. The Tigers beat Brockport and Elmira by identical 7-2 scores, and defeated Bard 6-3 at the Elmira Invitational/

Sophomore Brianna Dimisko (Hyde Park, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) won all three of her singles matches and a pair of doubles matches as RIT went 3-0 during the week. On Friday, she earned a 6-3, 6-3 win against Brockport at third singles. On Saturday, Dimisko won both her matches at third singles vs. Bard and Elmira and partnered with Maddy Price (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) to win both doubles contests. She is 4-1 at singles and 3-1 in doubles this season.

This Week: The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday with a home contest against SUNY Cortland from the RIT Tennis Courts that get underway at 4 p.m.

This Week: The Tigers begin the 2016-17 campaign with an exhibition game versus University of Guelph on Friday, September 23 at 6 p.m. at the Gene Polisseni Center.
