ONEONTA, NY – The RIT men's tennis team (4-7, 2-3 Liberty League) dropped a non-conference match on the road to SUNY Oneonta (11-4), 6-3 on Saturday afternoon.
RIT's lone win in doubles play came at the top spot.
Chandler Daub (Kailua-Kona, HI/Kealakehe) and
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) defeated SUNY Oneonta's Michael Nelson and Nicholas Fox in a close 9-7 win. At second doubles,
Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) and
Ken Chou (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott ) fell in a close battle to Joseph D'Orazio and Andrew Emanuel, 9-7.
Daub and Ingoglia picked up victories in singles play for the Tigers At the top singles spot, Daub dominated, defeating Nelson in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. At second singles, Ingoglia, after winning the first set, dropped the second, but rallied in the tiebreaking third set for a 6-3, 6-7(3), (10-7) win.
The Tigers will head home on Sunday, taking on Liberty League foe St. Lawrence at 10 a.m. in a Tiger Den event.
