Men's Tennis falls 4-3 to Union in opening round of Liberty League Championship

ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 4 RIT men's tennis team lost 4-3 to No. 5 Union in the opening round of the 2026 Liberty League Championship, Friday.

SINGLES:
  • Tanimoto beat Bellemare 6-4, 6-3 at first singles to give RIT a 2-0 lead.
  • At fifth singles, Escobar gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead with his 6-1, 6-2 win over Saxe.
  • At fourth singles, Sinclair lost to Philip 4-6, 6-7 (4-7) that cut RIT's lead to 2-1.
  • Turcotte took the first set 6-3 against Arhan Gupta in third singles. Gupta came back to win the second set, 6-3 and won 6-0 win in the third set.
  • First year Anjann Sai Bharadwaj Boorela lost the first set at sixth singles, 3-6 to Vivaan Gupta. He came back to win the second set, 6-3, but Gupta won the third set, 6-4 that tied the match 3-3.
  • At second singles, Ly took the first set, 7-5 over Alberto. Alberto came back to win the second set 6-3 and clinched the match with a 6-1 win in the third set.
