SCHENECTADY, NY -- The RIT men's basketball team was defeated at Union 79-65 in Liberty League action on Tuesday night. The loss drops RIT to 6-11 overall and 2-6 in the Liberty League.

Senior Justin Heisig (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) led RIT with 19 points. Brendan Harder (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) added 14 points and grabbed six rebounds in a losing effort for the Tigers.

RIT trailed 41-30 at the half, and were outscored 38-35 in the second half. The Tigers shot 42.9 percent from the floor on 24-of-56 shooting. RIT was 7-of-19 from behind the arc and were 10-of-14 from the foul line.

Ronnie Canestro (Buffalo, NY/Nichols School) added eight points and five assists. Desmond Scott (Murphy, TX/Plano East) dished out four assists, while Jameel Balenton (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers) and Nick Dobson (Corning, NY/Corning West) each had five points.

RIT returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at Hobart College.
