Men's basketball cruises to lopsided win over Bard on Friday

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (6-9, 2-4 Liberty League) men's basketball led by 22 points at the half en route to an 82-51 rout of Bard College (3-10, 1-4 Liberty League) in Liberty League action from Clark Gym on Friday night. The 31-point win is the largest margin of victory for the Tigers this season.

RIT shot 48.4 percent from the floor on 30-of-62 shooting. The Tigers were 9-of-18 from nehind the three point line and were 13-of-16 from the foul line.

Senior Brendan Harder (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) was one of four Tigers in double figures with 16 points. Justin Heisig (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) and Jameel Balenton (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers) each had 12 points, while Ronnie Canestro (Buffalo, NY/Nichols School) added 11 points, making 3-of-4 from behind the arc.

In all, 12 of the 14 players scored at least one point for RIT on Friday.

The Tigers dominated in the pain, outscoirng the Raptors 32-16, and scored 33 points off of 20 Bard turnovers.

The win snaps a two-game skid by the Tigers who will host Vassar College on Saturday afternoon at 4 pm.

The Tigers will wear camouflaged warm-up shirts with the names of 17 Rochester area soldiers who were killed in action. The team will also honor veterans in attendance as well as taking donations for the Veterans Outreach Center of Rochester.
