Men's basketball falls to Hobart in Liberty League action

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's basketball team was defeated by Hobart College 66-43 in Liberty League action from Clark Gym on Tuesday night. The loss drops the Tigers to 5-9 overall and 1-4 in the Liberty League. The Statesmen improve to 11-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference.

The Tigers never led, trailing 27-16 at the half and were outscored 39-27 in the second half. RIT shot 38 percent from the floor on 19-of-50 shooting. The Tigers were 2-for-13 from behind the arc and made 3-of-7 free throws.

Kurt Fenderbosch (Myrtle Beach, SC/Socastee) led RIT with eight points and four rebounds. Brendan Harder (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) and Sean Rutherford (DeRuyter, NY/DeRuyter) had six points apiece. The Tigers scored seven points off of 10 Hobart turnovers.

Hobart dominated down low, scoring 42 of their 66 points in the paint led by Richie Bonney who had a game-high 23 points. Stefan Thompson added 14 points and five assists and three steals.

RIT returns to action on Friday, Jan. 20 when they host Bard College at 8 pm.
