ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT softball team (6-5) dropped a pair of tough games at non-conference rival University of Rochester (9-5) on Tuesday afternoon.  RIT dropped game one, 10-5, then fell in game two, 1-0.  Sophomore pitcher Brittany Kemp (Dansville, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) had a no hitter for the first six innings of game two.

Through six innings of game two, Kemp had allowed just two walks and committed a throwing error, while striking out nine Yellowjackets.  Unfortunately Madeline Skellie was equally as strong, allowing just three hits, while striking out 10 Tigers in seven innings.

Nina Korn led off the bottom of the seventh with a double to right center.  The very next batter, M.C. Wagner, ended the game with a double to left center, scoring Korn.

Michelle Tabisz (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) had two of RIT's three hits, while Shannon McCormick (Auburn, NY/Auburn) had RIT's other hit in game two.

In game one, Rochester jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one inning, before Kemp tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the second inning with a two-run double, scoring Emily Courtney (Berlin, CT/Kingswood-Oxford) and Carlissa Cole (Alden, NY/Alden), who both singled to lead off the inning.  Allee Emmi (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) drove in Kemp with a double to right field, giving RIT a 3-2 lead.

That would be RIT's last lead of the game, as Rochester battled back with four runs in the third to take a 6-3 lead, the big blow coming on a two-run double by Nina Korn.  The Yellowjackets would score two more in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Kemp would hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning.  She finished 2-for-2 with a double, homer, and four RBIs.  Courtney was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored.

Cole took the loss on the mound, allowing 11 hits and seven earned runs in six innings.

The Tifers return to action on Sunday with a road doubleheader at Hamilton, that will begin at 1 p.m.
