Softball falls twice to Nazareth, 11-0 (5 inn.), 8-2

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT Softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader opposite visiting Nazareth, Tuesday, falling 11-0 (5 inn.) and 8-2.
 
NAZARETH 11, RIT 0 (5 INN.)
  • Nazareth starter Avery Zembeck limited RIT to two hits and a walk for the complete game win.
  • At the plate, the Golden Flyers plated two runs in each of the first two innings, and another in the third for a 5-0 lead before breaking the game open with a six-run fourth.
  • Senior RIT starter Jessica Majot only allowed four earned runs on 12 hits and zero walks while striking out six. 
NAZARETH 8, RIT 2
  • First-year Madison Passineau finished 3-for-3 with an RBI in the game-two setback.
  • Nazareth brought a run around in the top of the second, before the Tigers answered with a run in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Passineau.
  • The Golden Flyers retook the lead in the top of the third on a home run by Madison Hicks and later made it a 3-1 game with another run in the fifth.
  • Nazareth plated two runs on three extra base hits to start the sixth for a 5-1 lead and rode a three-run seventh to an 8-1 lead.
  • Sophomore Anna Cavotta brought Passineau home with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh for the final run of the game.
  • Tiger starter Mackenzie Blair took the loss, allowing five runs on 10 hits and a walk in six innings of work. Sophomore reliever Addison Hill allowed three earned on four hits in the seventh. 
WHAT'S NEXT
RIT will close the season hosting Liberty League rival Union on Saturday (May 2) for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader. The Tigers non-league doubleheader at Keuka scheduled for Wednesday (Apr. 29) was canceled due to a Keuka schedule conflict.
