Taryn Jones was named First-Team Softball All-Liberty League while sophomore
Kate Carlone landed Honorable Mention honors, announced Tuesday.
Jones put together one of the most prolific offensive seasons by a first-year in program history. She finished the regular season third in the Liberty League with eight home runs, tying the program single-season record, and also finished third with 41 RBI – two short of the single-season program record. The two-time Liberty League Rookie of the Week also ranked eighth in the conference with a .385 batting average and seventh with 45 hits while starting all 38 games in the outfield. Jones led the Tigers with 10 doubles, a .692 slugging percentage and 81 total bases while only striking out five times in 117 at-bats.
Carlone earned her second-straight all-conference selection after receiving second-team recognition last year. She ended the season second on the team with a .350 batting average, 41 hits and 19 RBI while starting all 38 games at first base. She opened the season with a career-high 10-game hitting streak and went on to only strike out eight times in 117 at-bats.
RIT finished the season with a 14-24 record, including a 4-10 conference mark for a tie for sixth place in the Liberty League.
