ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought match to Empire 8 foe Ithaca College on Tuesday afternoon. The loss drops the Tigers to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in the Empire 8.
In doubles action, the RIT's team of
John Albers (Grands Rapids, MI/Forest Hills) and
Larry Hall (Fairport, NY/Fairport) picked up the win over Josh Berggrun and Kyle Riether 8-2 in third doubles.
The second doubles team of
Will Abisalih (Merrimac, MA/Phillips Exeter Academy) and
John Traver (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) lost a tight match to Jimmy Newton and Daniel Wolk 9-8. The Tigers were up early in the match, but the Bombers responded and sent the match into a tiebreaker where they won 7-5.
RIT's lone win in singles came at the sixth spot.
Joshua Goldstein (Miami, FL/Palmer Trinity) defeated Dan Levine of Ithaca in three sets. Goldstein dropped the first set 0-6 but responded by winning the next two 6-4, 12-10.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, April 24 versus Stevens. The match gets underway at 12 pm on RIT Courts.
