Tigers storm back in second half to beat Pioneers

UTICA, NY -- The RIT (7-10, 3-5 E8) men's basketball team defeated Utica College (6-11, 1-7 E8) in thrilling fashion, 110-103 in overtime on Friday night. The Tigers featured five players in double figures led by Anthony Terry (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney) who scored 27. Senior Scott Young (Almond, NY/Hornell) scored 25 and Brendan Harder (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) added 19 points and 12 rebounds.

RIT shot 63.6 percent from the floor on the game, including 70.8 percent in the second half. The TIgers out-rebounded the Pioneers 27-24 led by Harder's 12 caroms.

Utica sent the game into overtime on a layup by James Patterson with four seconds remaining in regulation after RIT led by as many as six points in the second half.

The Tigers dominated the overtime session making all four of their shots from the field, including two three-pointers by Young and Terry.

Young finished with 25 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the floor. He was 5-of-6 from three-point land and 2-for-2 from the foul line.

Terry was 8-of-14 from the floor for 27 points. He made four-of-8 three pointers and was 7-of-8 from the charity stripe.

Sophomore guard, Marcus Lowe (Anchorage, AK/Service) chipped in 17 points off the bench while Darryl Anderson (San Diego, CA/Southwest) added 11 points. Harder was dominant down for RIT, with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

RIT returns home on Sunday, January 31 when the TIgers host Ithaca College. Tip-off is at 2 pm at Clark Gymnasium.
