Men's basketball falls to Roberts Wesleyan in Wendy's College Classic third place game

ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT men's basketball team (4-8) fell to Roberts Wesleyan (8-7) by a score of 99-76 in the third place game of the 2010 Wendy's College Classic hosted by the University of Rochester on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers never led and trailed by as many as 27.  Roberts Wesleyan shot 63 percent (22-for-35) from the field over the opening 20 minutes to take a 55-37 lead at halftime.

Scott Young (Almond, NY/Hornell) regained his hot shooting touch, hitting all five of his attempted 3-pointers, while shooting 7-for-8 overall from the field en route to a team-high 19 points.  Anthony Terry (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney) added 17 points to go along with five assists and four rebounds.  Shawn Roe (Corning, NY/Corning East) and Adam Haines (West Sand Lake, NY/Averill Park) each added eight points.

The Tigers shot the ball extremely well from 3-point range, hitting 71 percent of their attempts (12-for-17), but had no answer defensively for Roberts Wesleyan.  The Raiders shot 58 percent from the field (42-for-73) and were 12-for-19 from 3-point range.

Jordan Heath led five Raiders in double figures with 29 points.  He hit all six of his 3-point attempts and was 11-of-12 from the field.  Rashaad Stokelin was 6-for-6 from the floor and added 15 points.  Curt Despard scored 14 points, while Nick Bozzelli added 11 and Alif Bland tallied 10 points.  Dan Foley dished out eight assists.

Roberts Wesleyan won the battle of the boards, 38-31.  The Tigers turned the ball over 21 times.

RIT is now 47-19 all-time against Roberts Wesleyan.

The 99 points allowed by RIT were the most since Ithaca scored 101 on the Tigers in February, 2009.

RIT returns to action on Tuesday, as they travel to play Empire 8 rival Ithaca at 8 p.m.
