ROCHESTER, NY -- For the second time in three games Nate Korinchak (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) (Strongsville, OH) made the winning bucket late in regulation. On Friday, the sophomore guard made the second of two free throws with 1.8 seconds remaining to give RIT a 62-61 win over SUNY Brockport in the consolation round of the 43rd annual JPMorgan Chase Scholarhip Tournament.

The Tigers will play for fifth place on Saturday afternoon at 1 pm versus Roberts Wesleyan College. That game will be played on the campus Roberts Wesleyan College.

Korinchak got a chance at the free throws when he was fouled by Brockport's Joe Clark on a drive to the basket with 1.8 seconds on the clock. He missed the first but swished the second, giving the Tigers the 62-61 lead.

On the ensuing inbounds pass Eamon Keys' three-pointer at the buzzer narrowly missed giving the Tigers theier ninth win of the season.

RIT trailed early in the first half but an 11-2 run to close out the half cut the Soaring Eagles lead to 30-29 at the break. Shawn Roe (Corning, NY/Corning East) (Corning, NY/Corning East) led RIT with 11 first-half points. He was 4-of-5 from the field including 3-of-4 from three-point land.

The Tigers took the lead at the 15:07 mark of the second half on a three-pointer from Roe, making it 40-38 Tigers.

RIT led throughout most of the second half until Brockport's Mychal Wilkes hit a three-pointer with 3:21 to play giving the Soaring Eagles a 58-56 lead.

Marcus Lowe (Anchorage, AK/Service) (Anchorage, AK/Service) gave RIT a 60-59 lead with his jumper from 16-feet with 1:17 remaining in regulation.

On the Soaring Eagles ensuing possession Joe Clarke hit a runner along the baseline giving Brockport a 61-60 lead.

Clarke was called for the charge after he made the bucket, giving Lowe and RIT two free throws and a chance to take the lead back. Lowe made one-of-two, tying the score at 61-61.

Clarke had a chance with seven seconds to play to give Brockport the lead but his layup was blocked by Korinchak.

That set up Korinchak's drive and free throw attempts. He finished with nine points, three assists and three rebounds.

Mark Carson (Voorheesville, NY/Voorheesville) (Voorheesville, NY) led all scorers with 21 points and 12 rebounds. He scored 11 of his 21 in the second half and now has 12 double-doubles in 13 games this season.

The Tigers, now 9-4 on the season, win their 68th Chase Tournament game. It's the most wins in the Tournament's 43-year history. The Tigers are one of five teams that have played in every Chase Tournament.
