ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT men's basketball team lost at home to RPI, 79-62, in Liberty League action, Saturday. The Tigers trailed 40-35 at halftime before the Engineers pulled away in the second half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIT led 25-13 midway through the first half after a 12-0 run capped by one of sophomore guard Mushin Muhammad's five first half three-pointers.
- Muhammad finished with 21 points in the first half, going 5-for-5 from long range to keep the Tigers within striking distance.
- RPI closed the first half on a 27-10 run to take a 40-35 lead into the break.
- The Engineers opened the second half with a 9-0 run, including a three-pointer by Andrew Deppe and a layup by Kellen Driscoll, to push the lead to 49-35.
- RPI's PJ Scalisi hit back-to-back three-pointers midway through the second half to extend RPI's lead to 66-45.
GAME NOTES
- Muhammad finished with a game-high 28 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including 6-of-7 from three-point range, and added four free throws.
- Graduate student forward Josiah Turner scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds for RIT.
- Zac Ditzel, a junior guard, added five points and six rebounds.
- RIT shot 40 percent (22-of-55) from the field and 34.8 percent (8-of-23) from three-point range.
- RIT falls to 4-11 overall and 1-7 in Liberty League play.
