Josiah Turner scored 27 points to go along with 10 rebounds as the RIT men's basketball team defeated Bard, 84–58, Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIT opened the game with a 5–0 burst, highlighted by junior guard Zac Ditzel's put‑back layup and a three-pointer on the next possession.
- After Bard pulled within 5–3, the Tigers answered with a 9–3 run, fueled by baskets from Ditzel and first-year Xavier Nelson to push the lead to 14–6.
- Turner took control midway through the first half, scoring eight straight points as part of a 13–4 stretch that extended the Tigers' lead to 27–10.
- Turner drilled a three-pointer with four seconds remaining to send RIT into halftime ahead 42–25.
- Bard scored the opening bucket of the second half, but RIT responded with a 7–2 spurt, including a Turner and‑one that made it 49–30.
- After Bard trimmed the margin to 52–37, the Tigers countered with a 10–2 run capped by a Ditzel three-pointer, extending the advantage to 62–39.
GAME NOTES
- Turner shot 10-of-17 from the floor and 3-of-3 from three.
- Ditzel added 19 points, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.
- Nelson finished with 13 points and five rebounds, while sophomore guard Danny Cohen contributed 10 points off the bench.
- RIT shot 50 percent (32-for-64) from the field and 44 percent (8-for-18) from three-point range.
- The Tigers forced 19 Bard turnovers, converting them into 17 points.
- RIT won the rebounding battle 35–31, including 13 offensive boards.
