Joel Pho and
Grahith Movva were winners in singles and doubles, but it wasn't enough to get by Ithaca, who took the match, 5-4, Saturday.
Pho took fourth singles in straight sets, 7-6 (6-2) and 6-4 in fourth singles. Prior to that, Pho and senior
Carter Casimir took second doubles, 8-7.
Movva took second singles, 2-1, but only after dropping the first set, 6-4, and rallying with 7-6 (9-7) and 6-2 wins. Prior to that he teamed with freshman
Christian Berko with an 8-7 win at third doubles.
Rounding out doubles play was senior
Jake Wolicki and graduate student
Jacob Meyerson, who fell 8-6 in first doubles.
In singles play, Berko (first singles) and Wolicki (third singles) both fell 2-1. Both players had 6-4 second-set wins sandwiched between a pair of set losses.
Freshman
Max Chang fell by a pair of 6-1 sets in fifth singles, while Meyerson lost at sixth singles, 8-6, 6-3.
Men's tennis next hosts St. Lawrence on Friday, March 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Midtown Athletic Club.
