ROCHESTER, N.Y. - RIT senior
Hassan Eissa finished ninth out of 172 runners to lead the men's cross country team to a sixth-place finish out of 24 teams at the NCAA Division III Niagara Region Championships, Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Eissa finished the eight-kilometer course in a time of 25:38.1, while graduate student Aleksei Bingham finished 15th with a time of 25:51.9.
- Senior Ben Beaudry crossed 18th (26:08.0), sophomore Matt Chaikowsky finished 54th (27:02.8), and first-year Evan Owens (27:19.5) placed 63rd to complete the Tigers' top-five.
- First-year Joe Krenzer (27:28.3) and junior Daniel De Zutter (28:54.2) completed RIT's top-seven by finishing 69th and 108th, respectively.
- Geneseo took the team title with 41 points, followed by Brockport (77), NYU (114), University of Rochester (149), Hamilton (152) and the Tigers (159).
WHAT'S NEXT
The full NCAA Division III Championships field, including team and individual at-large bids, will be announced on Sunday. Forest Akers East Golf Course in Lansing, Michigan will be the site of the race next Saturday, Nov. 19. at 12:00 p.m. The top-seven individual finishers from Saturday's regional not on a team qualifier will receive an at-large bid to the championship.
