HOUGHTON, N.Y. – RIT first-year Evan Owens finished fourth out of 123 runners to lead the men's cross country team first-place out of 10 teams at the Houghton Highlander Invitational on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Owens finished the eight-kilometer course in 26:06.8, just ahead of senior Richard Ellsworth in fifth with a time of 26:13.9.
• First-year Derick Koen (26:21.2) placed sixth, while sophomore Ryan Wisniewski crossed eighth (26.25.6) and first-year Joe Krenzer finished 12th (26:43.9) to complete the Tigers' top-five.
• Sophomore Tayo Sonuga (26:55.7) and senior Nathan Ballay (26:59.5) rounded out the team's top-seven in 13th and 17th, respectively.
• RIT totaled a winning score of 35 points, followed by St. John Fisher (47), Daemen (80), Cortland (120), and host Houghton (139) in the top-five.
