MENDON, NY -- The RIT (2-1) men's tennis team beat Alfred University 9-0 in non-conference action from the Mendon Racquet Club Monday afternoon.
RIT lost only four games in doubles, sweeping all three points. In first doubles, the team of
Brennan Bull (Birmingham, MI/Birmingham Seaholm) and
Verosh Jayanetti (Newark, DE/Newark Charter) beat Alfred's Logan Cross and Ryan Brown, 8-1. Freshman
Ethan Martin (Pearland, TX/Glenda Dawson) teamed up with senior
Nick Lim (Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) at second doubles to defeat Isaac Little and Adam Shearer, 8-0.
David Trimmer (York, PA/Dallastown Area) and
Michael Peters (New Hope, PA/Holy Ghost Prep.) completed the sweep with a win over Sam Cohen and Wes Dennison, 8-3 in third doubles.
Bull swept Cross, 6-1, 6-1 in first singles, while Jayanetti was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Brown in second singles. Martin battled Little to a 6-3, 6-4 victory in third singles, and Lim did not drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win over Shearer in fourth singles. Peters won 6-1, 6-1 over Cohen in fifth singles and Trimmer was a 7-6, 6-0 winner over Dennison in sixth singles.
RIT is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, March 31, at 4 p.m. at the University of Rochester.
