HOUGHTON, NY – The RIT men's tennis team (3-5) got back in the win column with a 6-3 victory over Houghton College (0-3) from the Kerr-Pegula Field House on Wednesday afternoon.
Nick Lim (West Caldwell, NJ/West Caldwell) and
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) earned wins at both doubles and singles to lead the Tigers. The duo teamed up to defeat Louis Garcia and Jake Fisler, 8-4. Lynaugh earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Jordan Crouch at second singles, 6-4, 6-2, while Lim needed three sets and a tiebreaker to knock off Bjorn Webb at sixth singles. Webb won the first set, 7-5, while Lim came win to win set two, 6-4 and the third in a 10-8 tiebreaker.
Roger Peckham (Westlake, OH/Lake Ridge Academy) and
Spencer Lowitt (Syosset, NY/Syosset) gave RIT a 2-1 lead after doubles play, defeating Webb and Matthew Greer, 9-7.
Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Zach Shilvock at first singles, while
Mac Yang Li (Montreal, Quebec/IMG Academy) tallied a 6-4, 6-2 win at fourth singles over Fisler.
RIT is right back in action on Friday afternoon with a road match at Rochester that gets underway at 4 p.m.
