ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men's tennis team (5-6) win its second consecutive match by shutout, 9-0 over visiting Alfred University (0-3) from the Gordon Field House on Monday afternoon.
RIT got off to an excellent start at doubles, as the first group of
Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) and
Patrick Mathews (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) won by shutout, 8-0. The third doubles duo of
Roger Peckham (Westlake, OH/Lake Ridge Academy) and
Spencer Lowitt (Syosset, NY/Syosset) also won an 8-0 score.
The Tigers gave up just seven points in the six singles matches. Ingoglia earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kevin Volz at first singles, while
Nick Lim (West Caldwell, NJ/West Caldwell) won 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles and
Michael Peters (New Hope, PA/Holy Ghost Prep) also won by shutout.
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) earned a 6-1, 6-2 sweep at second singles, while Lowitt and
Mac Yang Li (Montreal, Quebec/IMG Academy) earned decisive wins at third and fourth singles, respectively.
RIT is back in action on Saturday, March 31 with a road contest against Oneonta State at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
