ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT men's tennis team (2-5, 0-3 Liberty League) suffered a 9-0 loss to Liberty League rival Rensselaer (2-0, 1-0 Liberty League) at Midtown Athletic Club on Sunday afternoon.
Rensselaer opened the match with three decisive doubles victories. At second singles, Andre Imrie and
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) waged a tremendous match. Lynaugh won the first set, 6-3, before Imrie won set two, 6-2. The third set went to a tiebreaker before Imrie emerged victorious.
Spencer Lowitt (Syosset, NY/Syosset) took RPI's Zack Ebenfield to the limit before falling in a first set tiebreaker and 6-4 in the second set.
RIT is back in action on Saturday, March 3 at 2 p.m. against Alfred University at the Gordon Field House.
