ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (4-1, 2-0 Liberty League) men's swimming and diving team defeated St. Lawrence University (0-3), 141-65 Saturday afternoon in Liberty League action from Judson Pool. The Tigers have now won four straight dual meets.
The Tigers began the meet in style, sweeping the top three places in the opening 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Derek Rothrock (Ashburn, VA/Briar Woods),
Shawn Nevers (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial),
Ben Metzger (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and
Andres Orbe (North Bergen, NJ/Saint Peter's) won the event in a time of 1:39.55. The team of
Tyler Schwarz (Stanley, NY/Marcus Whitman),
Brendan Kapp (Springfield, VA/Trinity School),
Keanu Pagano (Oxnard, CA/Oxnard) and
Marco Narvarte (Kingman, AZ/Lee William)Â were second (1:43.70), while the team of Nick Trumper, Thomas Richter, Ethan David and
Tomer Artzi (Framingham, MA/Framingham) came home third (1:48.08).
Will Brown (Boulder, CO/Fairview),
Braden Feasley (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) and Narvarte swept the top three places in the 50-yard freestyle. Brown won the event in a time of 22.28, while Feasley was second (23.10) and Narvarte was third (23.16).
Joe Wang (Framingham, MA/Framingham) and Orbe each won multiple events Saturday. Wang won both distance races, taking home first in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:20.52) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:00.18), Orbe took home first place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.22) and the 100-yard backstroke (55.78).
Other winners included Kapp in the 200-yard IM (2:07.23),
Wil Seifried (Springfield, PA/Springfield) in the 100-yard butterfly (55.14) and Metzger in the 100-yard freestyle (50.38).
In diving action,
Jon Bauer (Fairview, PA/McDowell) placed second (203.45) in the 3-meter competition, while
Chase Van Duyne (Auburn, NY/Auburn) was third (187.50).
RIT is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 10 when the Tigers face LeMoyne College at 1 p.m. in Syracuse, N.Y.
