SYRACUSE, NY -- The RIT (5-1) men's swimming and diving team defeated LeMoyne College 161.6-126.5 Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Tigers have now won five straight dual meets.
RIT began the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Derek Rothrock (Ashburn, VA/Briar Woods),
Shawn Nevers (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial),
Ben Metzger (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and
Will Brown (Boulder, CO/Fairview) won the event in a time of 1:39.26. The team of
Andres Orbe (North Bergen, NJ/Saint Peter's), Brown, Metzger and
Tyler Allen (Newark, NY/Newark) placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing in a time of 1:29.14.
Orbe and Rothrock finished 1-2 in the 100-yard backstroke. Orbe won the event in a time of 56.61, while Rothrock was second in a time of 57.13. Orbe took his second win of the meet with a win in the 50-yard freestyle (22.16), while Brown was second in a time of 22.58. Orbe took home first place in his third event, winning the 200-yard backstroke (2:02.72).
Brendan Kapp (Springfield, VA/Trinity School) won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.35), while Nevers was second (2:25.00).
Chase VanDuyne won the 1-meter diving competition (166.65), while
Jon Bauer (Fairview, PA/McDowell) was second (161.55). Bauer won the 3-meter competition (224.00). Van Duyne was second (191.40).
RIT returns to action on Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1 when the Tigers host the Don Richards Invitational at Judson Pool.
