SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY - Chandler Libby (Granby, CT/Granby Memorial) advanced to the quarterfinal round, as four members of the RIT men's tennis team competed at the 2017 ITA Northeast Regional hosted by Skidmore College from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.
The ITA regional features players from 16 teams competing for a chance to represent the Northeast in the Oracle Cup national championships Oct. 11-15 at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Ga.
Libby won both his matches on Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals. He opened by rolling to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Zach Ebenfield of Rensselaer in the opening round, then dispatched Yanick Parsich of New York University, 6-2, 6-4 in the round of 32. Libby had his run end in the quarterfinals, falling to Steven Koulouris of Skidmore, 6-0, 6-2.
Spencer Lowitt (Syosset, NY/Syosset) fell to Walker Anderson of Hobart, 6-3, 6-2 in the opening round in singles play. The doubles duo of
Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) and
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) fell in their opening round match to The College of New Jersey.
