ROCHESTER, NY — The RIT men's tennis team (2-12) dropped a tight 5-4 contest with SUNY Oneonta (7-12) in its final home match of the season at the RIT Tennis Courts on Sunday. The Tigers honored their two seniors,
Chandler Daub (Kailua-Kona, HI/Kealakehe) and
Ian Dansereau (Ludlow, MA/Ludlow), before the match.
RIT started out the match with two out of three victories in the doubles. The pair of Daub and
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) defeated Michael Nelson and Joseph D'Orazio 8-5, and
Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) and Patrick Matthews defeated Nicholas Fox and Cole Laffitte 8-6.
Roger Peckham (Westlake, OH/Lake Ridge Academy) and Dansereau fall to Marco Ammirati and Zach Lasky, 8-2, making it 2-1 RIT after the doubles matches.
In the singles, Daub (6-2, 6-3) and Lynaugh (6-3, 6-0) both picked up wins, but Oneonta won four singles matches, giving the Red Dragons a close 5-4 victory.
The Tigers will return to action once more in regular season play, as they head to Pittsford to take on Nazareth College on Thursday, April 27, at 4 p.m.
