ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men's tennis team (2-9, 2-3 Liberty League) recorded their second dual win of the 2016-17 season, shutting out Liberty League foe Bard College (2-7, 0-6 Liberty League) 9-0 at the Mendon Racquet Club on Easter Sunday.
RIT dominated from the outset, winning all three doubles matches. The duo of
Chandler Daub (Kailua-Kona, HI/Kealakehe) and
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) rolled to an 8-2 win over Nicholas George and Satchel Fisher at first doubles. At second doubles,
Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) and
Patrick Mathews (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) won by the same 8-2 score and the third doubles team of
Roger Peckham (Westlake, OH/Lake Ridge Academy) and
Ian Dansereau (Ludlow, MA/Ludlow) won by shutout, 8-0.
The singles matches were more of the same for the Tigers. Daub took down Fisher at first singles, 6-1, 6-2, while Ingoglia took down David Mamukelashvili at second singles, 6-1, 6-1. Lynaugh defeated Immanuel Zion at third singles, 6-3, 6-1.
Mathews picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win at fourth singles, while
Spencer Lowitt (Syosset, NY/Syosset) and
Michael Peters (New Hope, PA/Holy Ghost Prep) picked up dominant wins at fifth and sixth singles, respectively. Lowitt lost just one game in his two set win over Zayd Normand, while Peters did not surrender a game in his victory.
RIT returns to action on Wednesday with a road contest at Hobart College that gets underway at 4 p.m.
