CLEVELAND, OH – The RIT men's tennis team (1-9) dropped a pair of matches on Saturday, falling to nationally-ranked Case Western Reserve University (18-4), 9-0 and Ohio Wesleyan University (15-6), 6-3 at Carlton Courts.
The No. 12 Case Western Reserve Spartans won all six singles matches in straight sets after opening with three doubles victories.
In the second match of the day, Ohio Wesleyan jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the doubles matches before RIT's 1-3 singles players emerged victorious.
Senior
Chandler Daub (Kailua-Kona, HI/Kealakehe) earned a hard fought win over Shouta Fukamachi taking set one 6-2 before falling in set two, 7-5. Daub would win the tiebreaker, 10-8 to take the match.
Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) would also earned a tough three-set win at second singles over Diego Venegas. Venegas took the first set, 7-6, before Ingoglia roared back to win the second set, 6-2, and the tiebreaker, 10-6.
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) would also earn the victory at third singles over Aadil Kohari with an 8-3 win.
RIT is right back in action on Easter Sunday, as Bard College comes to town for an 11 a.m. match.
