CLINTON, NY – The RIT men's tennis team (1-5) fell on the road to non-league foe Hamilton College (4-7) by a score of 7-2 at the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Sunday afternoon.
Chandler Daub (Kailua-Kona, HI/Kealakehe) and
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) opened the day by winning a tremendously close match at first doubles over Lars Scannell and Burke Paxton, 9-8. The match was tied at 8-8 before going to the tiebreaker, which RIT's duo took 8-6.
Daub would win his first singles match as well, knocking off Max McKee-Proctor at first singles, 7-6, 7-6.
Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) and
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) would make strong bids in their singles matches, but would ultimately come up short. At second singles, Ingoglia would drop the opening set to Sam Farber, 6-3, before roaring back to win set two, 6-1. Farber would take the match with a 6-4 win in the third set. Lynaugh would defeat Burke Paxton at third singles in the first set, 6-3. Paxton would come back and win the next two sets, 6-3, 6-0.
The Tigers return to action next Sunday, April 2 with a home match versus Le Moyne College that gets underway at 1 p.m.
