POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The RIT men's tennis team (0-3, 0-1 Liberty League) opened up Liberty League play by falling to league foe Vassar College (4-1, 3-0 Liberty League), 9-0 at Walker Field House on Friday afternoon.
The Brewers took the three doubles matches to open a 3-0 lead. The number one doubles team of
Chandler Daub (Kailua-Kona, HI/Kealakehe) and
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) battled Nick Litsky and Alexander Luckmann tough before eventually losing, 8-5.
In singles action, the Brewers won each of the first five matches in straight sets. In the final match of the day,
Michael Peters (New Hope, PA/Holy Ghost Prep) dropped the first set 6-2 before rallying to take a 5-4 lead in the second set against Nick Lee. Lee would rally back and take the set 7-6 and the match.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, March 4 with a road match at Liberty League St. Lawrence University that gets underway at 1 p.m.
