Men's tennis falls to Division II Roberts Wesleyan in first dual match of season

ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT men's tennis team (0-1) played its first dual match of the 2016-17 season on Sunday, falling at Division II Roberts Wesleyan College (7-0) by a score of 9-0.

The Redhwaks won all three doubles matches to open the match and in singles, took all 12 sets. At fifth singles, Wade Pines (Glenwood, MD/Mount Saint Joseph) took Jose Carilla to the limit in the opening set before Carilla win 7-5. Spencer Lowitt (Syosset, NY/Syosset) played well at third singles before falling, 6-4, 6-2 and Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) took points at first singles, before falling 6-3, 6-2.

RIT is right back in action Monday with a home scrimmage against Nazareth that gets underway at 4 p.m. from the RIT Tennis Courts. The Tigers compete at the Daemen Fall Classic on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 1-2.
