PITTSFORD, NY – The RIT men's tennis team (2-5, 1-2 Liberty League) returned to Liberty League action, falling to Rensselaer (5-6, 2-1 Liberty League) by a score of 9-0 on Saturday afternoon, at the Mendon Racket and Pool Club.
Rensselaer swept all three doubles matches to begin the dual. The team of
Chandler Daub (Kailua-Kona, HI/Kealakehe) and
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) dropped an 8-3 decision to Sherman Uyeno and Tristan Wise in first singles. After the Engineers won 8-1 in second singles, the team of Anthony Kim and Sundar Devakottai defeated
Jason Alexander (Austin, TX/Bowie) and
Jared Raphael (Batavia, NY/Batavia) 8-3 to earn the doubles sweep.
In singles play, Rensselaer swept all six matches to preserve the shutout. Daub took his first singles match against Wise to a third set, dominating the second set after dropping the first. Daub dropped a close tiebreak third set, falling 7-6, 2-6, 11-9.
The Tigers will hit the road to take on Union Saturday at noon.
