SYRACUSE, NY -- The RIT (3-2) men's swimming and diving team had its two match winning streak halted in a 140-103 loss at team at Division II LeMoyne College (3-2) on Saturday. The Tigers swept the top two spots in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions.
In diving action,
Alex Dieroff (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) won the 1-meter competition with a score of 269.2.
Ben Hamilton (Addison, NY/Addison) was second with a score of 222.85. Hamilton won the 3-meter competition, finishing in a score of 169.95, while Dieroff was second with a score of 165.15.
In relay action, the team of
Derek Rothrock (Ashburn, VA/Briar Woods),
Shawn Nevers (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial),
Daniel Yuen-Schat (Honolulu, HI/Kaiser), and
Steven Paine (York, PA/Dallastown Area) were second in the 400-yard medley relay, finishing in a time of 3:48.54. The team of Nick Genovese,
Dennis Zhou (Antwerp, NY/Indian River),
Ryan Leeson (East Aurora, NY/Iroquois), and
Jason Cook (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) finished in a time of 3:53.74.
John O'Gorman (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:02.05.
Austin Hayes (Aurora, OH/Aurora) had a pair of runner-up finishes. He placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.63 and also in the 500-yard freestyle (5:11.69). Rothrock was second in the 200-yard individual medley.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 19 at home against Alfred University. The meet from Judson Pool will begin at 1 p.m.
