ROCHESTER, NY – Despite a pair of school records from senior diver
Natalie Snyder (Rockville, MD/Rockville), the RIT women's swimming and diving squad (6-4) dropped a tough decision to Genesee River rival Rochester (6-3), falling by a score of 199.5-96.5 at Judson Pool on Saturday afternoon.
Snyder began the day by crushing her own school record (previously 293.15, set last season) in the 1-meter diving by just under 35 points with an incredible score of 328.05. She won the event by nearly 55 points. In the 3-meter, Snyder broke former teammate
Sam Huselstein (Olean, NY/Olean)'s school mark of 256.95 with a score of 264.75. Incredibly, Synder did not earn the outright win, as Danielle Neu of Rochester recorded an identical score of 264.75 for the tie.
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview) and
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) were the only other swimmers to record victories for the Tigers on Saturday. Phillips won the 200-yard backstroke by just under a second in a time of 2:15.33, while Adams won the 200-yard breaststroke nearly five seconds in a time of 2:35.07. Adeline Maykish (Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) picked up a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:35.75 and was third in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:10.34).
