CLINTON, NY – The RIT women's swimming and diving team (5-3) started the 2016 calendar year by defeating Vassar (4-5) by a score of 164-133, while falling to Hamilton (4-0), 198-98 in a three-team meet at Hamilton on Saturday afternoon.
Natalie Snyder (Rockville, MD/Rockville) was strong on the diving board for the Tigers, winning the 1-meter event with a score of 253.60 and annexing the 3-meter dive with a score of 246.30.
The 200-yard medley relay team of
Allison Crim (Manchester, MD/Manchester Valley),
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy),
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview), and
Katrina Mayer (Bristol, VT/Vergennes Union) opened the day by finishing second in a time of 1:56.07.
Adams was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.55.
Phillips also won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:14.32 by three second and placed second in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:20.29. She was also third in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:29.82.
Adeline Maykish (Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) picked up a third place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:20.70), while
Daylen Smith (Lockwood, NY/Waverly) placed third in the 50-yard freestyle (26.66).
The 400-yard freestyle relay squad of
Sarah Evans (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna),
Allison Moulton (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford), Mayer, and Smith won in a time of 3:52.73.
The Tigers are back home for the next two weekends. On Saturday, Jan. 23, RIT hosts the University of Rochester and on Jan. 30, compete against Nazareth. Both meets start at 1 p.m.
