POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The RIT men's tennis team had its 2014-15 season come to an end on Sunday, falling to regionally-ranked Vassar College (7-9, 3-2 Liberty League) by a score of 9-0 at Joss Courts. The Tigers finish the season with a 5-10 record, going 1-6 in Liberty League play.
Vassar opened by taking all three doubles matches, with RIT's
Ken Chou (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott ) and
Frank McGinn III (Wappingers Falls, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) just missing in an 8-5 defeat to Christian Phelps and Evan Udine at the second position.
In singles, Marc LaChance put up a strong effort against Phelps at third singles, falling by scores of 7-5, 6-3. Vassar would close out the match by winning the next five singles matches.
It was the final matches for seniors Chou, McGinn,
Amos Baptiste (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood), Lachance, and
Jake Stocker (Cassville, NY/Sauquoit Valley). Alexander, Baptiste, and
Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) would lead the team with seven singles wins apiece in 2014-15. Chou and McGinn led RIT with six doubles victories.
